Do You Offer Group Safaris?

We’re often asked: “Do you offer group safaris?

The short answer is no, we only offer private safaris.

Here’s why — and why that’s actually a great thing for your experience.

A Safari Should Be Tailored to You

Unlike a climb, where people often enjoy the camaraderie of a group, a safari is a different kind of journey. It’s not about reaching the summit; it’s about enjoying the journey itself—the wildlife, the landscapes, and the rhythm of nature.

That experience becomes much more meaningful when it’s customized around your preferences.

With a private safari, you choose:

  • How long do you want to stay at a sighting
  • What parks do you visit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and Arusha )? This, of course, needs to be planned and paid for in advance.
  • When you eat, rest, and move on
  • Your travel companions — not random strangers with different goals or interests
  • It’s your schedule, your pace, your adventure.

Group Safaris Can Be Limiting

Group safaris may seem appealing at first — they’re often advertised as “budget-friendly”, but they come with compromises:

  • Set itineraries with little flexibility
  • Crowded vehicles (less window space, less comfort)
  • Self-centered people who refuse to allow you to get photos. Animals do not pose; you have to be quick, and if Karen stands between you and your photo op, then good luck getting the perfect shot.
  • Mixed group dynamics — what if some people aren’t punctual, or don’t want to wait for a lion to wake up?
  • Generic experience designed for the “average tourist” rather than your specific interests

We believe that once-in-a-lifetime experiences shouldn’t feel like a bus tour.

What You Get with a Private Safari

When you book a private safari with Kilimanjaro Sunrise, you get:

  • A dedicated guide and vehicle just for you and your group
  • The freedom to explore at your own pace
  • The ability to design your park itinerary with our help
  • A more intimate connection with nature, uninterrupted by others’ preferences or limitations

It’s a safari that fits you, not the other way around.
